The More You Read

No time to read you say? Set up a daily routine for yourself and carve out some YOU time! I feel energized when I read about others pursuing my same interests. I feel inspired when I read about and learn new things. I feel peaceful when I read the scriptures and other books that uplift […]

How I Rise & Shine

When do you wake up? Are you good at waking up early? Are you a morning person? Waking up early for me is really hard. I mean, like, REALLY hard. When I read the section in Ruth Soukup’s book, Living Well Spending Less, about how she has set up her morning routine I thought, “YES! […]

The Shortest Cheat Sheet on Joy

I don’t know about you but one of my favorite things in school was when some crazy person made a little cheat sheet of notes to study for a test and shared it! ha ha! So I just called myself crazy. And short. I just realized that. Both of which are true. Oh well. The […]

Do any of these statements ring true for you? Are you answering yes to even one? 10. I have too many “friends” or random relationships I can’t keep up with 9. I feel like you don’t know who I am any more 8. My kids/family have taken over my hobbies 7. I don’t think I […]

I Am Simply- ME

I have a confession. I confess that I have no confession. Ha! So I’m not trying to sound profound or poetic or anything. I am confessing that I don’t have a truly tragic life story, a magnanimous life of wealth and beauty, or a super successful career. I am not a published author or inventor […]

Determining Your Authentic Core Values

Because her face captures how this whole family feels about dad. Happy Father’s Day to the biggest stud. We sure love you!
All my life growing up people would say:⁣ “You do you”⁣ “Be true to yourself”⁣ “Be who you are meant to be”⁣ And I’d be like “yeah!”⁣ And then I’d go home and be like “and who is that exactly 😕??”⁣ Until I discovered my #trueself. A real tangible face for all the thoughts and emotions and choices deep down. ⁣ My #values. ⁣ I'm a #childofGod , just like you, but now I know HOW I do that exactly.⁣ I feel more at peace with myself but also like giddy energized to tackle life. ⁣ I have the ability to assess myself and where I am and who I am in real actionable words and that helps me do (or not do)everything- more #joyfully. ⁣ ⁣
This whipper snapper here just turned 8! (yeah, pulled that ol' term out just for you hon) It has been a blast and a half being his #mama. From the day he was born we knew it was going to be a grand #adventure. Still trying to figure out his #values but I do know he's like 80% his father 😆 and not just in looks. ⁣ ⁣ Maybe that's why I like him so much 😉 ⁣ ⁣ He's my dinosaur obsessed, motorbike riding, sushi eating, book writing, joke maker-upper boy. ⁣ ⁣ Just look at that face. We were at the little park by our house with sisters to try and get some kid pics and he said "lean on my shoulder- I bet that would make a good picture" This boy is a riot! 🤣⁣ ⁣ Sure #enjoy you little man!
I’m not one to normally buy things because of #color - unless those colors are black or white- but I’m noticing a trend in #afewofmyfavoritethings lately.... I pulled them all out and it’s kinda pretty 🙂 #findingthebeauty #corevalue maybe I should look for more teal (or is this aqua? 🤷‍♀️) products? 😆 #findjoyeveryday
TBT 2000: What would you share with your 16 year old self? Without giving life away ya know? ⁣ ⁣ I would teach her how to find her core values. Like- her personal-just Taylor- ones. ⁣ ⁣ #TheChurchofJesusChristofLatterDaySaints has a wonderful program for teenage girls and teaches values like Individual Worth, Knowledge, Choice and Accountability, Knowledge, Good Works and Integrity. I grew up trying to embody these beautiful values. ⁣ ⁣ But to my teenage self many of those were aspirational values at the time. Values I was striving to have, but weren't always....how I made decisions. I battled but couldn't figure out why- why I kept making mistakes that I wished I hadn't, even then. ⁣ ⁣ What do I know now that I wish I had known then? ⁣ ⁣ How to self-evaluate. ⁣ ⁣ How to find my unique core values and then use that to make decisions. Merge them with the aspirational ones I wanted so badly. ⁣ ⁣ Make mistakes but not just because I didn't know how to fulfill what really was driving me deep down. ⁣ ⁣ Value sharing? Don't talk your friends to death and sound like a know it all...become a tutor or mentor. ⁣ ⁣ Value validation and belonging? Don't hang with bad friends or guys that dont care about your brain but are plenty complimentary about other things....instead join the magazine and stay after school with peers (or blog/insta nowadays) and write poems and publish them. ⁣ ⁣ Love art hate math? Find the math in art or the art in math. Use your values to drive what you have to get done. ⁣ ⁣ Some of this is innate to some people. Some seems like "duh" ...BUT to some of you out there I'm sure you know what I'm saying. Better choices because you know what fulfills you. ⁣ ⁣ I know how now. And I've forgiven past mistakes because I now know why I made them. And I think I could let my young self in on this secret weapon and not spoil how life turned out- too much. 😉
What would you get up extra early for? Exercise? Reading? A Donut? 😆 (if you know me you know I would for a #pqdonuts ) I am reassessing my #values this month and I am going through some self learning evaluation questions again. This is one of my favorites. ⁣ ⁣ Right now I'd get up for anyone else, a good book, or yes, a really good donut. #honest . But true. If someone (aka a neighbor or friend) really needs something, I'll be up and ready by 5. If it's just me that needs exercise.....snooooooze until 6. That's just me right now. ⁣ ⁣ So tell me. ⁣ ⁣ What would you get out of bed extra early for huh?? Share! I'd love to hear. #getupearly #personalvalues
